While not without its pitfalls, the new Adidas Teamgeist site & game is pretty fantastic. |

I'm not generally one for posting links labeled "cutest thing ever" but I think there's always room for exceptions here and there.
Thanks, iandavid. |

[Jun. 10th, 2009|01:37 pm] |
See, this is how Godzilla is gonna happen. We're gonna kill off all the fish that happen to be keeping some strain of aquatic lizard in check, giving the lizard free reign to eat whatever it wants, grow to an incredible size, and then stomp on downtown Tokyo.
It's already started. |

| Illustrated Internet |
[Jun. 9th, 2009|05:51 pm] |
After a failure to properly motivate myself for a trip down to NYC for that whole MOCCA thing, I've been taking some makeshift solace in a few bits of semi-relevant internet here and there.
For starters, there's this listing on Hongkiat.com of 50 Beautiful Hand-Drawn Web Designs that got sent around the office, some of which definitely qualify the title's criteria.
Then there's this random assortment of comic pages, many of which seem to be a good little taste of some things to track down. Also sorta makes me wanna grab a few issues of Popgun or something.
On a cuter note, SLF sent me over this cute website for "An Awesome Book" by Dallas Clayton that's worth a look.
I'm also pondering the 24 Hour Comics Day thing for this year, just for kicks. Anybody ever done that before? |

| Crackle |
[May. 27th, 2009|01:36 pm] |
Fans of Sony media might enjoy Crackle, which is sort of Sony's answer to Hulu, featuring tv shows, movies, and some original web shows. No idea if anything from the latter is any good, but it is a nice little something extra if you're tired of broadcast tv. |

I assume most of you have seen this by now, but for those who came in late, here's one of the most aptly-named sites I've come across in a while- AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com. Sure enough, it is what it is. |

| Your husband does what? |
[Apr. 17th, 2009|05:57 pm] |
Erica just sent me a link over to How to Nail an Interview, a funny/sad collection of videos interviewing for jobs and the little lessons to take away from each. I actually haven't looked at the site much, because she pointed me directly to Tip 15, which while hilarious, sent me on a search taking me over to bfro.net, better known as the home of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization. I was pleased to see that MA isn't without their bigfeet, boasting a Class A sighting just last year. Not quite the hotspots you'll find out West, but I suppose we've gotta work with what we've got. |

| Ron Turner Cover Collection |
[Apr. 14th, 2009|11:54 am] |
While titles like Hell Planet and The Lie Destroyer essentially sell themselves, I imagine it'd be nearly impossible to turn your back on The Genial Dinosaur. Turner really nailed the amiable-yet-vacant expression of your typical hill-sized stegosaurus there. Quite a body of work.

Also, comments on that one have handily lead to the DinO Group ! on Flickr which has a few gems worth checking out. |

| April Fools |
[Apr. 1st, 2009|12:02 pm] |
I really hate using the internet on April Fools Day. It's just a constant wave of emotions, generally ebbing in disappointment and embarrassment. Luckily there are some handy resources out there to hopefully help separate fact from farce. That is, of course, assuming the listings aren't jokes as well. Because seriously, nothing's sacred anymore. |

| Pictoral Phone Fun |
[Mar. 30th, 2009|04:24 pm] |
I've been hooked on two little "quick fix" kinda diversions. Perhaps you'll enjoy them too.
For iPhone users, there's this app PhotoSwap. The idea is fantastically simple- you take a picture and send it out, and in return you get a random picture from someone else that they just took. Sure, most of what you get are shitty shots of people's legs and televisions, but there's a reasonable quotient of slice 'o life images out there too. Some users opt to enable the GPS to couple locations with their photos too. And again, while most of the returns are crap, it's such a quick turnaround picture-by-picture that there's no real investment to get too bent out of shape about. Of course, if you can always just cut to the chase and enjoy the flickr group for NSFW Photoswap photos. Because really, who are you kidding with this thing?
The other one is the Broken Picture Telephone game. You've probably played something like this before. One person writes a phrase, the next person illustrates it. Then the third person, without knowing the initial phrase, writes what they see in the picture drawn by the second person. Then a fourth person draws the third person's phrase... and so on. The results can be pretty amusing. |

| More random links |
[Mar. 30th, 2009|02:45 pm] |
About time to start closing some browser windows again, so here's the highlights.
If you always thought the one thing wrong with your favorite NES games was the glaring lack of boners, check out this list of "the 20 most deranged & offensive NES ROM hacks." Probably safe to say that while the batsignal is a welcome addition to the Sesame Street ABC game, the masturbating muppet might not be. However, a more tasteful combination for gamers and muppet fans might be this Atari 2600 commercial featuring our dearly departed Mr. Hooper. Gamers might also enjoy the Periodic Table of Controllers.
Moving over to Sci-Fi, we've got excerpts from a few early drafts of the Blade Runner screenplay, apparently falling squarely on the "yes" side of the old "Is Deckard a replicant" argument.
Also in Sci-Fi, you've probably heard by now that the cast of Battlestar Galactica was invited to speak at the UN on human rights, which I suppose could be construed as being topical, strange, or just kinda sad. Probably easiest to make up your mind about how to feel about it after checking out a bit of the video footage for yourself. And yes, it ends with "so say we all." Brace yourself for that.
However, probably the coolest page I'm about to close here brings Sci-fi and the real world a bit more excitingly than the UN did. The Japanese city of Hakodate has been producing official tourism videos highlighting the city's many attractions by showing their involvement in a series of alien invasions. It's pretty brilliant, actually. Hakodate, known for it's robust squid trade, is attacked by alien cephalopods seeking revenge for their fallen cousins. It's then up to the city's various historical and architectural attractions to defend the city, naturally by either transforming into fighting robots or simply coming to life. I imagine it's the sort of chip that Japan is in a unique position to cash in on, but I think the message here is pretty clear- come to the city where totally awesome shit is happening all the time. Us Westerners should be so cunning.
And then finally, for those of you who have no interest in anything I was just talking about, here's 50 animals who hate baths. |

| ShamWow Guy Beats Up Cannibal Hooker |
[Mar. 27th, 2009|05:30 pm] |
• Shlomi meets Sasha Harris in a Miami club. They go back to his hotel. • She propositions him for "straight sex." He pays her a thousand bucks in cash. • He kisses her. • She "bit his tongue and would not let go." • He punches her in her face repeatedly until she lets go. • He runs down to the hotel lobby. • They both get arrested.
Enjoy. |
