I like the distinction that 28 Days Later isn't really a zombie movie

He mentions I Am Legend the book being about vampires, but in the movie they were more like the "infected" people in 28 Days Later. what's up with that?

Well, granted, I haven't actually read the story, but my understanding is that it's basically a blend between the two. I think it was an infection that basically created vampirism, or something close enough. But yeah, a thin differentiation.

I was thinking about this more, and I think I misunderstood at first. I think the point about 'I Am Legend' isn't so much the type of menace so much as it was one of the first popularizations of a post-cataclysm man facing off against hordes of a supernatural enemy. It was a good 14 years before 'Night of the Living Dead,' but the basic motif is basically the same I guess; hole yourself up and try to survive as prey. Seems like a more fitting example from that angle.
